  • SOL OBSCURA exists to create a shared space for reflection, imagination, and connection under a rare celestial alignment.
We gather beneath the eclipse to explore the relationship between science and spirit, light and shadow, self and collective. Through art, inquiry, and presence, we build community in cosmic time — a moment both ancient and immediate.

  • The last total solar eclipse visible in Spain happened over 100 years ago and central Europe hasn't seen one since 1999.
But now — in 2026 — the shadow returns, passing just 2 hrs south of Barcelona.

We created SOL OBSCURA to honor this rare alignment not just as a visual spectacle, but as something ancient, profound, and deeply human.

Across time and cultures, eclipses have marked calendars, guided rituals, and stirred awe. From Neolithic stone circles to celestial myths etched in pottery and bone, our ancestors looked to the skies — not just for survival, but for meaning.

This eclipse isn’t just happening above us. It’s happening with us.
It’s a chance to gather, to reflect, and to remember that we are part of something far older and far wider than ourselves.

  • Guiding how we gather, inspired by the Principles of Burning Man.

    Radical Respect

Every individual has the right to choose what they engage with — physically, emotionally, socially.
Consent is sacred: for touch, photos, video, and conversation.
If something isn’t for you, step away — and always ask before you act.

    Self-Expression

Come as you are — or as someone you’ve never been.
Whether you're clothed, costumed, or nude, all forms of self-expression are welcome, as long as they respect others’ boundaries.
Let your art and presence be part of the moment, not above it.

    Immediacy

This is your invitation to truly arrive.
Be present. Be here. Unplug from elsewhere and immerse yourself in what we are co-creating. And remember: images require permission — the moment is not yours alone.

    Leave No Trace

Respect the land we celebrate with.
Clean as you go, sort your waste, and minimise what you bring.
Carry an ashtray. Bring your own cup. Leave this place better than we found it.

    Radical Inclusion

This gathering is for everyone — all ages, all bodies, all backgrounds.
Some needs are visible; many are not.
Respect accommodations, and reach out if you need support or want to help expand accessibility.

    Communal Care

We are not just attendees — we are caretakers of a shared space.
Look out for one another. Listen. Offer. Support.
Together, we create the experience that supports us all.

    Radical Self-Reliance

    Plan ahead.
Bring what you need to care for yourself — physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
We create the frame, you bring your tools.

    Gifting

    Gifting is our love language.
Offer your time, your energy, your creations — not for trade, but for connection.
No expectations. No transactions. Just generosity.

  • SOL OBSCURA was born from a desire to mark time differently — to gather not around commerce or spectacle, but meaning. As the eclipse approached, we felt called to create a container where our community, creativity, and curiosity could align beneath one sky.

This is our offering: a moment out of the ordinary, shaped by the shadow of the sun and the light we bring together.

Total Solar Eclipse

A rare alignment. A fleeting shadow. A moment to remember.

On August 12, 2026, the Sun will rise at 07:04, culminate at 14:02, and begin its golden descent toward an extraordinary horizon.

At 19:36, the Moon will begin to cross the Sun’s path.
At 20:29, we’ll witness totality — the moment when the Sun is fully eclipsed — lasting 1 minute and 32 seconds, just 4° above the western horizon.
With the highest nearby mountain at rising at , the eclipse will appear to sit on the peak of the mountain, low in the sky, bathed in the rainbow light of dusk.
By 20:56, the Sun will set — and with it, the shadow will pass.

This is a rare and liminal moment: light eclipsed just before nightfall, the Sun’s final breath slipping behind Earth’s curve.

Across history, eclipses have been treated as portals — sacred, feared, celebrated.
In 2026, we won’t just witness it. We will gather within it.

The Ceremony

On the evening of August 12, we gather for what brought us together: the eclipse.

As the sky dims and the shadow stretches across the land, we will host a ceremony honoring the alignment — one that blends sound, silence, movement, and stillness.
It is a moment to reflect, release, and remember.

Eclipse viewing glasses will be provided to ensure safe observation of both the partial and total phases of this rare event.

Together, we’ll witness the turning of the sky — not as spectators, but as a collective, under one disappearing sun.

Where is it?

The festival grounds are located south of Tortosa, in the stunning river valley leading into the Ebro Delta — one of Spain’s most beautiful natural regions, surrounded by wetlands, mountains, and sea.
